El lamentable hecho ocurrió en una asociación recreativa de Vila Nova de Rainha, en el centro del país luso.

Al menos ocho personas murieron y 36 resultaron heridas, 14 de ellas de gravedad, a causa de una explosión registrada este sábado por la noche en la sede de una asociación recreativa de Vila Nova de Rainha, en el centro de Portugal.

Patricia Gaspar, vocera de la Autoridad Nacional de Protección Civil de Portugal (ANPC), declaró a la agencia española de noticias EFE que no se descarta que haya más muertos a causa de la detonación, cuyas causas aún se desconocen.

De los heridos confirmados hasta el momento, 14 están graves y otros 12 sufrieron heridas leves, agregó.

La explosión dio origen a un incendio, que provocó la caída del techo del edificio del club recreativo antes de que pudiera ser extinguido por el cuerpo de bomberos.
