Es el hijo de las dos víctimas. Se trata de un joven afroamericano de 19 años.

Las autoridades de Estados Unidos informaron este sábado que el presunto autor del tiroteo ocurrido ayer en la Universidad Central de Michigan (CMU), en el que dos personas murieron, es el hijo de las víctimas y se encuentra bajo custodia.

"El sospechoso del tiroteo en el campus de la CMU está ahora bajo custodia", anunciaron a través de las redes sociales fuentes de esta universidad situada en la localidad de Mount Pleasant, en el estado de Michigan.

El hecho ocurrió este viernes cuando supuestamente Davis, de 19 años, abrió fuego contra sus padres en su habitación y luego buscó refugio en el campus universitario hasta ser descubierto, en la madrugada, por las autoridades.

"El sospechoso fue visto y denunciado por un individuo que viajaba en tren cerca de la parte norte del campus, poco después de la medianoche. La llamada fue respondida por las autoridades, que procedieron a la detención del sospecho sin mayores incidentes", detalló la CMU.

La policía cree que el tiroteo se produjo a raíz de una "situación doméstica familiar", dijo el jefe de la Policía universitaria de la CMU, Larry Klaus, citado por la agencia de noticias EFE.

Las víctimas, James Eric Davis y Jeenen Davis, de 48 y 47 años, respectivamente, residían en las afueras de Chicago y se habían desplazado a Mount Pleasant con el propósito de reunirse con su hijo con motivo de las vacaciones de primavera.
